This was an awesome group of passages. What I really loved about them all was that they carried the theme of reliance and trust in God. We can rest calmly in God's arms for he delivers and sustains; he is the Bread of Life. That is an incredible truth that I need to rest upon each and every day and it was perfect timing. I needed this today!
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. --Psalm 36:7-9
Psalm 36 beautifully portrays the rawness of a believer's heart. He deeply knows his sinful ways, yet at the same time he knows the amazing truth of God's faithful, steadfast love. Therefore, the natural response for a believer is a worshipful recognition of the splendor of Christ and His glory! I am driven to pursue Christ above all else. Lastly, David prays, as we should, for humility and to not become arrogant.
Psalm 40:1-3: I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord
I thought that this passage was just really cool because it shows what God will do to those who follow Him. I also find the last two lines of verse 3 interesting: Many will see and fear//And will trust in the Lord. It almost seems as though because of the new song of praise to God people will come to fear and trust in the Lord.
It makes me wonder, is the song that I sing bringing people to know and fear my God?
