In the notes for this verse, it mentions that Jesus waited to have the disciples experience this loss and mourning on a truly deep level so that their joy can be even greater when Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. Sometimes we can focus so heavily on negative surroundings that we forget that God is all powerful and sovereign and seeks Glory that we can rejoice in.
Psalm 144:15 "Blessed are all the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!"
This verse reminds me of a flourishing life that we may live in Christ, rightly relating to all things. When I have God first, as opposed to another idol, life is as it was intended to be.
