"Deep calls to deep." (Psalm 42:7a) How do we approach the Lord in our prayers and in our daily thoughts? Sometimes we operate under the assumption that we can deceive the Lord, as if he doesn't know our every move and thought. Rachel hid her theft from her husband, creating a rift between him and Laban. Eli's sons did evil and tried to keep it from him until he found out. I am guilty of pretending sometimes that God is looking away, but truly the Lord is always with us and in everything. If we could get such a clarity of vision for life that we lived with a unified manner of holiness, perhaps we (I) might better know the will of the Lord in our lives.
