These two chapters as well as recent personal experience have reminded me of the brevity of life, giving me an eternal perspective. Think about it, your parents are aging and will not be with you forever. I, in the strength of my youth, will one day grow old and gray. All of this points me to my need for Christ and to know that only a life lived for him is worth living.
Furthermore, if in Christ, how are my preparations for eternity coming along? Am I seeking the salvation of my lost friends and family? Am I wanting to grow closer to Christ and flee with all I have away from my sin? My prayer is that God burdens all our hearts with the imminence of eternity.
