Memory verses for the week:
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 6:23 ESV)
"And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment."
(Hebrews 9:27 ESV)

ReplyDeleteThere are so many great things about these passages. I love the image that Lamentations paints between verses 22 and 25. It offers a glimpse of God's mercy and His unfathomable love for us and His constant faithfulness to us. What a great thought to start off the week. It's funny that Ephesians 5 is included in this section because I spent the weekend helping to lead a youth group retreat up in Ellijay that focused on this chapter and the idea of what it means to be an imitator of Christ and the reasons; the challenges behind being a Christ-imitator, but the necessity of such an act. So many good things in this chapter, from the idea of sacrificial love that we should imitate to the foundational image of what a marriage should look like.

Lamentations 3:22-26 are also very encouraging to me. This entire chapter shows the cry of a man suffering and then calling out to the Lord. God wants my heart and for me to pray to simply desire him. He is always ready with arms open to those who seek him.
