Psalm 78:38 "Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath."
To see myself in this story of rebellious Israel is so comforting. For so many reasons, God could have torched me with his wrath, but instead he chose to come in and save me. Not only save me, but know that I would continue to sin after I believed. He is so patient and gracious, jealously wanting to love and show compassion toward us in redemption through Jesus.
